MONTH THREE — the month of honey and ghee

Garbhini Paricharya · Masanumasika · महीना ३

In the third month the first real addition arrives. Milk is now given with honey and ghee — three of Ayurveda’s most complete foods, together in one cup. Acharya Harita adds the first proper grain: shashtika rice cooked with milk, and krishara, the old rice-and-lentil preparation that most Indian kitchens still make without knowing its lineage.

The heart of month three: milk with honey and ghee.

What to eat

  • Milk with honey and ghee
  • Shashtika rice cooked with milk
  • Krishara — rice and pulses cooked together, soft
  • Sweet, cooling, liquid foods continue

What to avoid

  • Heavy or hard-to-digest meals
  • Excessive spice and heat
  • Overeating — quantity still judged by digestion, not appetite
